James E. Root is a renowned U.S. business immigration attorney. With a career spanning over two decades, Mr. Root is dedicated to advocating for and protecting the rights of immigrants and their U.S. employers.
Attorney Root's passion for immigration law stems from his own teenage experience as a Ukrainian immigrant to the United States. In 2000, Mr. Root began practicing immigration law, quickly establishing himself as a trusted legal professional in this diverse and complex legal field.
His perseverance and unwavering commitment to his clients led to the immense success of Root Law Group, which he founded in 2000. However, in 2023, Mr. Root made the decision to sell his sizable law firm in order to transition into becoming one of the leading independent U.S. business immigration attorneys.
In addition to practicing immigration law, Mr. Root loves to share his vast legal knowledge and experience with the U.S. based immigrant community. He is a respected teacher of U.S. immigration law who is frequently sough after to consult foreign investors and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Root's dedication to the immigration law extends beyond his professional endeavors. Throughout his long and distinguished legal career, he has been a leading advocate for immigration reform. Educationally, Mr. Root obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Northern Illinois University in 1988 before earning his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School. He is a member of several prestigious legal associations, including the California Bar Association (CBA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
Attorney Root's legal expertise is recognized by his admission to practice before the Supreme Court of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit.

As an independent U.S. immigration law consultant with 15 years of practical experience, Igor has successfully assisted thousands of satisfied foreign clients. He is proficient in all areas of U.S. business immigration, including the preparation of investment- and employment-based cases. Over the course of his extensive career in immigration law, he has handled hundreds of E-2, L-1, H-1B, O-1, EB-1, EB-2 NIW, EB-2/EB-3 PERM, and EB-5 cases.
Igor’s goal has always been to help relocate as many brilliant and business-minded immigrants to the United States as possible. Since 2010, he has dedicated his career to navigating the complexities of immigration law, zealously advocating for clients, and maximizing the approval rates of their immigration cases.
Prior to becoming an independent immigration consultant, Igor worked at several reputable Los Angeles-based immigration law firms. As Director of Legal Operations, he effectively led legal staff in a fast-paced immigration law firm environment. Throughout his career, he has assisted numerous proactive foreign investors in pursuing their American dreams and helped countless professionals obtain green cards through their prospective employers.
Igor’s journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from UCLA, where he developed a strong analytical foundation that continues to shape his approach to superior client service and efficient legal operations. He later earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School, which equipped him with the legal knowledge and skills necessary to understand the complexities of immigration law and effectively lead others.
